Nutrition

There is no reason doing all this hard work unless you work equally hard on your diet.  70% of your results from a work out programme come from your diet and not what you lift in a gym.

Weight Loss

There is a simple principle that is lost on the majority of people which is why there are so many diet magazines on the market.  They are making money out of our inability to do simple maths:

The Sum

Calories in – Calories out = body shape change

If you are trying to lose weight simply do not eat as many calories as you have been each day or burn more off by going for a walk, going to the gym, going dancing or anything that raises your heart rate for at least 40mins will ensure you burn some calories.

Trying too hard...

Many clients turn over a new leaf and decide all at once to get in to shape by joining the gym AND going on a diet.  I always say that this is a recipe for disaster.  Your body is a very clever machine and the most subtle changes to the ‘norm’ will effect change in your body.  So do one thing at a time.  Once your body is either used to eating less OR is used to going to the gym then introduce the other element.  This ensures you stick to a programme long enough to see long term changes.

A Little of Everything is Fine

As soon as the word ‘diet’ is spoken it conjures up some sort of suffering by eliminating all the nice things we enjoy from our diet.  This does not have to be the case.  You can have a little of everything as long as you ensure you work to The Sum.  Have chocolate.  Have cake.  Drink alcohol.  You really can do all of these things, just make sure you burn them all off!
